• Diploma or degree in Nursing or equivalent experience;
• 3-5 years of experience in humanitarian work I health;
• Good level of written and spoken English and Arabic;
• Shilluk language an asset;
• Intermediate level in computer skills (Word, Excel and Power-point);
• Understanding of ICRC mandate, International Humanitarian Law, and other humanitarian topics
• Good knowledge of geographically assigned environment (Upper Nile);
• Willingness to learn and adapt
• To provide adequate pre and post-operative care, in accordance with the internationally/ICRC
recognized standards
• To organise and ensure that all items required for the ICRC pre and post-operative care are
available in either in hospital assignment or in FST deployment
• Participates for (with the team) in the maintenance and the replenishment of the FST kit before
and after an intervention, in order to be quickly operational again.
• To participate, and ensure that all items required for the nursing care are available and taken
on deployment.
• To perform the safest possible ward care according to the local capacity and environment.
• To ensure the ICRC principles for post-operative nursing care of the WW and trauma cases are
followed and adapted to the circumstances
• Participates in setting up the local operating theatre and the area of postoperative care, in
order to provide surgical care as early as possible.
• In conjunction with ICRC Ward Nurse, participate in the follow-up of surgical cases, on-going
care plan and the handover to local staff at the end of deployment.
• With the OT nurse, monitors the ongoing needs for stock & utilises lmprest_system reordering.
• Attends regular hospital team meetings.
• To provide ward statistics as required and participate in providing information for monthly and
quarterly reporting. Maintains admission records of patients as required
