Requirements
A master’s degree in Gender studies, political science, development studies, public policy or related field from a respected institution.
At least five (5) years of professional experience in Gender issue in areas of advocacy, civil society engagement, government policy advisory AND project
management/coordination at national level
Excellent writing and presentation skills, and ability to collate information cogently and concisely;
Willingness to travel to other locations such inside the country and potentially in the region;
Experience in dealing with partners at all levels including government officials, civil society organizations and other national counterparts.
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
Experience in policy formulation, project management and coordination;
Competence in the use of standard software application (Office, Mac OS, etc.);

Responsibilities
Provide technical assistance and guidance to Gender department undertaking regular assessment and analysis of the challenges and possibilities for the
implementation of National Gender Policy which is aligned with the Compact gender equality commitments;
Advocacy and support to coordination and communication across the government and with international partners, including the UN and Donors’
Community and CSOs and Women’s Groups.
Support the development of policies and strategies regarding the engagement of Civil Society Organizations.
Assist the Gender Directorate in the development and dissemination of Status of Somali Women on an annual basis.
Initiate Somali Diaspora engagement projects relating to Gender equality and mainstreaming in Somalia;
Support the ministry in realising the implementation of National Action Plan by supporting the enactment of Sexual Offence Bill, FGM Bill and adoption of it
policy at cabinet level;
Assist the ministry in formulating policies on gender equality and women’s rights issues, including women economic and political
participation/empowerment;
Support MoWHRD develop position papers and status reports on women’s role and participation.
facilitate strategic engagement of MoWHRD in state formation and political processes ;
Undertake representational responsibilities on behalf of the Minister and undertake assignments or missions within Somalia;
