About Company: The African Minerals and Geoscience Centre (AMGC) formerly known as SEAMIC was assigned by the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (ICGLR) to host a laboratory)' for instrumental analytical chemistry. This laboratory will provide analytical data needed for the Analytical Fingererprint (AFP) to verify the ong1n ol conflict minerals (cassiterite, Coltan, and wolframite). The German Federal ln.stitule for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) assigned by the German Federal Ministry for Ecooomic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is supporting AMGC to setup this laboratory.

The successlul applicant should demonstrate the following:
Educated lo BSc level at an intemationally recognized
UOIVe!Slty in Chemistry oi\and Geochemistry; MSc level wiD
be an added advantage
More than 5 years of relevant work experience (including
the application and development ol modem instrumental
analytical methods)
Experience in mineralogy, inorganic Instrumental analytical
chemistry or chemometrics would be an advantage
Knowledge of Environmental analysis
Working on MS, ICP and XRF equipment will give an
added advantage
Receive, record and analyse samples from clients
Record, interpret and report results to the client
Koowledge of geochemistry and analysis of geological
Knowledge of Environmental analysis
Be responsible for running the above mentioned
analytical equipment to produce analytical data
necessary for the AFP;
Check the analytical quality of tile obtained resutts;
Perform adaption of the used methods n necessary;
Support the development of adcfrtional applications of lhe
equipment within the framework of the AMGC service
Perform the basic technical servic.e tor the above
mentioned equipment;
Organize technical support by the equipment
