Requirements
•	Degree in Education or its equivalent or similar field & Substantial experience of working in South Sudan in education programme in a humanitarian or development context
•	Previous experience of working in post-conflict recovery response & A high level of written and spoken English
•	Previous experience of programme management across multiple locations
•	Demonstrated ability to set up programme monitoring & evaluation systems.
•	Demonstrated ability to set up learning and development processes for education team
•	Proven ability of mentoring, coaching and training on education related topics.
•	Experience of senior level representation & Excellent communication skills
•	Experience of developing and negotiating successful partnerships with institutional donors
•	Proven ability to influence change at an operational and strategic level.
•	Politically and culturally sensitive with qualities of patience, tact and diplomacy
•	The capacity and willingness to be extremely flexible and accommodating in difficult and sometimes insecure working circumstances.
•	Familiarity with South Sudan Government (MOEST) Education system, policies, standard requirement, guideline and action plan especially for basic and alternative education system.

Responsibilities
•	Lead on Education or multi-sectorial technical assessments in coordination with other external sector agencies, ensuring assessment findings are documented and that all assessments include a specific analysis of need of children & youth.
•	Lead on developing Education response plans and master budgets and contribute to War Child Canada’s overall response strategy.
•	Lead on fundraising for the Education sector, including development of high quality concept notes and proposals, and engagement with donors' technical advisers.
•	Provide technical support to Education teams and conduct regular monitoring visits to ensure quality programming is being implemented
•	Ensure field teams have solid understanding of education in emergency, recovery and development programming, conduct regular trainings for staff to build skills and capacity
•	Prepare and oversee Education programme implementation to ensure timely delivery of programme activities (for example, monitoring against log frames, individual performance management work plans).
•	Prepare timely programme and donor reports on project activities in compliance with internal War Child Canada’s requirements and any relevant external donor requirements.
•	Develop learning needs assessment and capacity building plans for both War Child Canada staff and partner staff, linking capacity building initiatives to wider opportunities identified via coordination and networks.
•	Coach and mentor Education Team / national level counterparts and link in to wider organizational talent development mechanisms.
•	Oversee development and delivery of technical training material that will improve aspects of Education work within War Child Canada.
•	Help shape broader sector strategies through influence and participating in inter-agency coordination forums, such as the Education Cluster, Alliances and Consortium, ensuring the specific needs of children and youth are being addressed.
•	Take the initiative in documenting lessons learnt, best practice and case studies to shape in-country strategies and programme framework, and contribute to broader sector learning.
•	Play a leadership role in shaping Education communications and media priorities in line with thematic priorities, acting as a spokesperson when required.
