About Company: Save the Children has been operational in Kenya since the 1950s, providing support to children through developmental and humanitarian relief programmes delivered both directly and through local partners. Current programming focuses on child protection, child rights governance, education, health, HIV/AIDS, livelihoods, nutrition and WASH. In 2012, as part of a global reorganization process, Save the Children combined the programmes of SC UK, SC Canada and SC Finland to create a single operation in Kenya. In Feb 2014, we completed a second transition, which saw us join forces with the British INGO, Merlin, and merge their health and nutrition programmes with our own. · Minimum Diploma of qualification in community health, public health, nursing, social science.
· Experience in implementing and coordinating hygiene promotion activities, including programme design,
implementation and evaluation.
· Ability to write clear, well-argued assessment and project reports, and assist in preparing successful funding
proposals for donors relevant to hygiene promotion
· Monitoring and evaluation skills including knowledge on KAP surveys
· Experience of and commitment to working through systems of community participation
· Excellent communication skills
· Report, as required, on programme work and any management issues arising in each assignment (to the area and
country programme management teams)
· Comply with Save the Children policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, procurement
and logistics, health and safety, equal opportunities and other relevant policies and procedures.
· Ensure that all work is carried out in a way that is sensitive to community needs and gender and children issues. In
particular to promote the full and equal participation of women and children in all aspects of the work.
· Within reason, implement additional actions and responsibilities, as requested by your line manager.
1. To manage community outreach activities and guarantee the efficient and effective sensitisation, mobilisation and
participation of the communities targeted, thereby maximising programme performance.
2. Working closely with the Water and Sanitation Engineering team to mobilise communities to support the construction
and maintenance of water and sanitation facilities such as water points, latrines and bathing areas
3. Working closely with the health, nutrition, protection and education teams to integrate hygiene promotion
programming across the sectors.
4. Prepare work plans in particular with focusing water and sanitation needs of the target population.
5. Help implement the plan of action for water and sanitation schemes according to the guidelines and schedules
6. Arrange, conduct surveys and need assessments, as and when required for the on-going program or future project
